Note: This post may not make sense to you if you’re not familiar with Singaporean or Malaysian street language.
Some of you may already have heard of Google’s new payment system that will compete with PayPal.
They’re calling it GBuy.
“Chao GBuy!!” (when things go wrong)
“Orh, so you use GBuy to make money har?”
“You want the money isit? I’ll shove it up your GBuy!”
Someone stop me.

GBuy
Tinker Tailor made me realize that the name of the new Google payment system - GBuy - would be inappropriate and difficult to pronounce, particularly in Singapore, Malaysia, or among Hokkien-speaking people.

That is so wrong. If I’d known about this earlier I’d have brought this up at the Google talk in NUS today.

You know, I think this will only add to its success. After all, ’sega’ means ‘wank’ in italian, but that didn’t stop the dreamcast from making a decent run of the roman markets.

Walau this is the ultimate funny name man. I mean, why does it sound so much like our favorite national swear word? Of all the coincidence…
